About

Initially established in the wake of Morocco’s devastating September 8th Al-Haouz earthquake, Artists For Morocco was formed in alliance with a stellar line up of established and emerging Moroccan artists including Yto Berrada, Hassan Hajjaj, Meriem Bennani and more, in a bid to raise funds for victims of the earthquake.

Raising a total of €213,372 through our print sale, funds provided 10 remote villages and 3,470 families with vital aid. We are also currently constructing semi-permanent housing across three of the most affected villages.

As of January 2024, Artists For Morocco now functions as a non-profit organisation, launched in a bid to democratise the arts in Morocco, providing underprivileged Moroccan youth with exposure, support and training.

With priority placed on women, marginalised communities, and those from remote and rural villages, a new ecosystem is being fostered by AFM, offering aspiring creatives access to free mentorship, grants and exhibitions.

By harnessing the far-reaching impact of the arts, and culture as a whole, Artists For Morocco inspires and encourages a new generation of talent to manifest a boundless thought process of play and creativity, both of which are crucial for the development of a community and social mobility.

With a strong focus on raising awareness about critical issues including water scarcity and environmental fragility, our hope is that Artists For Morocco will carve out a unique exchange between the youth and their limitless potential.
